About 33 million people worldwide, including about 700,000 in the U.S., are living with HIV/AIDS. Living is the operative word here. Catherine Salveson, RN, PhD, is Director of Clinical Practice for Health Sciences University school of Nursing in Portland, Oregon. She has been active in Public Health for over 20 years and was Chief of the Adult Health Division of the New Mexico State Health Department. She has also worked in HIV/AIDS research, home health care, aging services, and hospice care.
